Peter Baldwin
Peter Baldwin lives and works on the North Norfolk coast. The work innovates within a modernist tradition embracing a relational aesthetic. The subject matter involves ordinary situations made mysterous by means of implied narratives and cryptic symbols embedded within this formal language. The imagery relates to artists such as Balthus, Michael Andrews and David Inshaw, whose paintings allow for the poetic and figurative to coexist with a formalised aesthetic beauty.
A longstanding member of the Norwich 20 Group, his work has been exhibited in Canada, USA, France and London as well as East Anglia and is represented in a number of publications and public collections.
